Annual Membership and Board Meeting Minutes

1. Welcome and Refreshments
President JoAnne Moore welcomed attendees shortly after 2:00 p.m. to the Friends-sponsored ‘Governor W. Lee O’Daniel and Photographs of an Era’ conference program. She also invited attendees to partake of the beverages and brownies provided.

2. Introduction of Speakers Bill Crawford and John Anderson
JoAnne introduced the two program speakers.

3. Program ‘Governor W. Lee O’Daniel and Photographs of an Era’
Speakers Bill Crawford and John Anderson provided an audience of approximately 30 attendees with photographic selections, historical details and amusing anecdotes from their book, “Please Pass the Biscuits, Pappy: Pictures of Governor W. Lee “Pappy” O’Daniel” (University of Texas Press, 2004).

4. Approval of Minutes
Following the program, JoAnne Moore called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m. Patrick Heath moved to approve the minutes of the March 17, 2004 Annual Membership and Board Meeting; Ramon Noches seconded. Motion passed.

5. Treasurer’s Report
Erica McKewen reviewed the financial report. Thompson-Gale contributed $300 in support of the Texas Treasures reception held at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission for media representatives and dignitaries attending the TLA Annual Conference.

6. Accomplishments of the Friends
JoAnne reviewed the Accomplishments of the Friends documents provided to attendees, featuring an annotated time line of meetings and events coordinated by the Friends between July 12, 2004 and February 16, 2005.

7. Election of Board Members
The following slate of nominees was presented to those in attendance for election to the Board.

Peggy Rudd moved to accept the slate; Dianna Dorman seconded. Motion passed.

8. Adjournment
JoAnne asked for a motion to adjourn. Jenifer Flaxbart moved to adjourn the meeting; Patrick Heath seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
